Steps to Combat Image Fatigue On Facebook

Image fatigue is a grave issue that a large number of people face while using Facebook. Generally talking, users get tired of seeing same Facebook ad images over and over again. Since Facebook is aware of the problem, it usually reduces ad impressions and moves back to 'old' ads after about 72 hours. Due to this, advertisers require effective strategies for coming up with 'fresh' ads in order to ensure that they appear continuously on Facebook.

If you too are facing this problem, read on to find out ways of systematically and effectively adding new images in your Facebook ads. However, keep in mind that CTRs in Facebook are generally quite low; so do not get discouraged with the figures look lower in comparison to other forms of PPC advertising. An approximate figure of 0.5 percent CTR is considered satisfactory in Facebook.

Step 1: Generating Facebook Ads

To begin with, try to test 8 to 10 different kinds of ads and integrate images which are usually known to be converted in Facebook. Few good examples of such images include pictures of company logos, happy women, vegetables and fruits, and head shots. Within a span of few days, you will notice couple of ads pulling ahead of the others. Use the ads that perform the best and add different variations in them which performed best during the test run.

For instance, if the image of women seemed to work the best, use different variations of happy women pictures in the ads to improve your ad CTRs while maintaining their freshness.

Step 2: Test the Facebook Ads

Once you have come up with the images which work, make small adjustments in them after every few days to keep them fresh. You can make the following modifications for keeping your ads fresh.

• Change the background color of the image.

• Add colored bars to both sides of the images.

• Add small visual elements such as a logo or small flag in the corner of the images.

• Add a colored border to the image.

• Add call to action in the advertising images to modify them.

Borders are quite effective as they not only help to easily modify images to keep them fresh, but also add a wonderful visual impact to the images.

Step 3: Refine the Process of Ad Testing for Facebook

After following the above mentioned steps to combat image fatigue in Facebook, you can iterate them further in the following manner:

• Add background of different colors or put up varied color flags in the image corners to give them visual appeal.

• Add colored borders with different widths or bars on the sides of the image or any other similar variations.

• Place flags in different locations on the images. For instance, you can place a small red flag on the upper right corner or on opposite corners to the image.

You can also feel free to incorporate any other alteration in the Facebook images to test your ideas and the success you get from it.
