Good Website Hosting For Beginners

Hosting Service Choice
Using a trustworthy and reliable website hosting service to display your websites on the internet is a Must.

What with all the companies available to choose from - it can really get your head spinning.

I should know. I spent countless hours scanning the internet looking at this site and that. Pretty soon I had to stop...take a break and process it all.

Soon I had learned that it just boils down to doing your homework before you get ready to choose any one of them.

Three Important Questions

First - Can the hosting service offer a Month To Month payment option?

This was so important to me because my budget is tight. I didn't have a lot a money to throw around.

So if they could offer it, then they would get my business. If not - I had to move on. And move on I did. Many hosting services just did not offer the Month To Month payment option.

This is so important to new webmasters...maybe not so much to those with more money on hand...however, newbies need to be watchful of this.

If you can't afford it - look elsewhere. There are hosting services out there that will offer the Month To Month payment option. You just have to keep on looking until you find one.

Second - How much data do you need carried from one point to another in a given time? This is also known as Bandwidth.

Some hosting services have different choices to choose from. While others automatically provide unlimited bandwidth.

Selecting a hosting service offering Unlimited Bandwidth is a very good choice for newbies. It is because right now - you are not getting a ton of traffic to your website at the beginning. Later on you can adjust this with your provider.

Third - Do they offer as many website addresses as you like, also known as Domains?

When you decide to go with a service, you don't want to be stuck with only a small number of domains that you can have on their service. It's just not practical. You are using them to make the most of your website's potential.

Choosing Options
There are a whole list of other options that are available to the webmaster. Such as Dedicated Servers and Virtual Private Servers.

And what options they have available will vary from provider to provider. Expert webmasters usually know exactly what they are looking for.

New webmasters will find that Shared Hosting will work just fine. Especially when the host is using Linux Cloud Servers.

This is just a fancy term to mean a type of hosting where hosting services are used by customers on demand through the Internet - instead of through a single server or virtual server. Cloud server hosting services are provided by many connected servers.

Now you will sometimes see something like 99.9% Uptime spoken of. This is because their servers are so reliable and stable.

They quote this percentage of online display for your website to let you know how guaranteed your site will be seen.

I just love Linux. So when I saw that percentage - it gave me a level of confidence in the service that they can truly deliver.

Final Thoughts

As with any service, you must use your good judgement and common sense to figure out what will work best for you. These two skills will guide you as you decide which hosting service will benefit you the most.

Call the hosting service on the phone first. Don't just look at their website and order online. Be looking at their website as you are talking to them.

You Must be able to speak to a tech support or sales person anytime you need to between normal business hours to fix a problem. I can do this whenever I need to. It was one of my special requirements they must meet. And they do it well.

Hammer the sales rep with as many questions as you can think of that deals with your needs. If they can satisfy you with their answers and they don't sound confused or avoid the question...then chances are you might have a winner.
