Same Birthday

You're standing in a room with hundreds of other people, you're at a ball, a movie theater, or are just plain out having fun with friends. We've all wondered from time to time if anyone in that room has the same birthday as us, I know I have! But, do you know that there is actually a statistic for how many people you have to have in a room to have a 100% chance of having someone, anyone, in that room that shares your very birthday? Well, that number is 366. Though, through mathematics, you have to exclude February 29th if you want this to be a viable experiment.

While this may not be your cup of tea, you should know that there are several million people out there that share your exact same birthday. Intriguing, isn't it? Often times, we may sit and wonder how it is that people with our same birthdays may act, are they anything like us? Do they share some of the same hobbies that we have? Or are they as different as different can possibly be? Well, I have met more than a few people who have shared my birthday and it seems to really be hit or miss with how our personalities line up.

Either way, the chances are throughout your life, you have met at least a handful of people who will have the same birthday as you or your loved ones. If you haven't found one, then you probably may want to do what many people have done, look for celebrities that share their same special day. I mean, who wouldn't want to know that they share their day with Johnny Depp or Kristen Stewart?

Of course, as the people around you begin to dwindle, so do your chances of sharing that special day. With one hundred people, you have roughly a fifty fifty chance that you're talking to someone who may share all of your hobbies and personality traits just because the day you were born.

If you're not quite so patient with finding someone on your own, finding someone with your same birthday really isn't all that hard with the Internet. Some people may ask their groups if they were born on the same day or may join a same birthday chat to talk to another person that falls on their birth date.

All in all, this really isn't something that will be completely life altering if you do not have this information. However, it is definitely something fun to spend your time in researching, especially if you're interested in the mathematical equations and percentages that are involved in testing groups of people and the days in which they were born. Curiosity is needed when you're trying to perform this experiment with people that you know, after all, without curious thinkers, we may not have ever brought up the fact that people throughout the world would have been born on the day that we ourselves celebrate on an annual basis.
