A Comparison of Apple iPhone 4 and Nokia N8 Cell Phones

A Comparison between two popular smartphones:

This comparison only covers the main aspects of both smartphones and does not cover detailed analysis.

So what is a smartphone?

Advanced functionality such as mobile phone, personal digital assistant (PDA), PC like functionality such as edit photos, browse internet, etc, as well as the ability to take still photos and record HD videos. All these functions are packed into a single super gadget called a smartphone.

Design:

Both cell phones are masterpieces of technology and innovation and it is really hard to decide which one is better on basis of size comparison, height width comparison and screen comparison.

The iPhone is the world's thinnest smartphone making it slimmer than N8. Both phones have quite similar dimensions and weight but difference is in the thickness. Nokia phone has a 0.51 inches (12.9mm) excluding area of the camera whereas iPhone is only 0.37 inches (9.3mm). Stainless Steel and ultra durable glass is used in Apple phone against aluminum in Nokia.

Both mobile phones comes with a 3.5" screen size, N8 has a resolution: 16:9 nHD (640 x 360 pixels) AMOLED whereas iPhone has a Retina Display (LCD with IPS technology) making it 640x960 pixels of resolution.

Price Difference:

How much are you willing to spend to buy your new cell phone?

Smartphones does not come cheap, it is possible that some customers change their mind and end up buying a cheaper phone from another company, or maybe go for a budget laptop instead with similar price or less.

Purchasing power of customer is a primary factor in phone selection. These super gadgets are expensive because of having so many features. The Nokia cell phone is at least 20-25% cheaper in price than iPhone 4 (unlocked). Apple products are usually expensive than its competitors but still their products stays in great demand.

Color Variants:

When it comes to choose a gadget for everyday use, color makes a big difference in making a decision.

Nokia smartphone comes in five colors the silver white, dark grey, orange, blue and green. Making it more interesting for the customers to choose according to their favorite color.

On the other hand iPhone4 smartphone comes in two colors the white and the black. So not many choice here either go for a completely dark color or a bright color. So Nokia phone offers more color choices to its customers than Apple phone. Nokia cell phone in silver white, dark grey, orange, blue and green colors whereas Apple phone in white and black color.

Camera Quality:

One big attraction towards smartphones is their ability to take photos and record high quality videos

The Apple cell phone has a 5 MP camera that can take gorgeous photos and 720p HD video recording of 30 frames per second. Whereas Nokia smartphone comes with a great 12 MP camera and is able to capture stunning photos and can record 720p HD video. So N8 gets a plus against iPhone4 in photos and video because of having a 12 mega pixel camera.

Software

iPhone comes with Apple's iOS4 operating system which allows multitasking on a multi-touch screen, making it easy to switch between several applications. It comes with cool applications such as FaceTime to make video calls with its two-way camera, engaging video games and high-definition video editing tools etc. Plus there are above 300,000 applications and games available to download from App Store.

Symbian^3 operating system comes with Nokia mobile that allows custom home screens, social networking and cool looking widgets. Plus it has photos and video editing softwares. Also there are few applications available to download from OVI Store,also you can play HD video.
