Federal Communications Commission did not look too kindly on Wachovia on offer for the purchase of T-Mobile, but the Agency has approved the acquisition yesterday at the Wachovia spectrum from Qualcomm with conditions.

The FCC Voiced concerns about the trade competitiveness.

"After the post-transaction, Wachovia would have a significant share of the available spectrum suitable for the provision of mobile voice and broadband services, in particular under the 1 GHz range, which has technical attributes that are important for other competitors to significantly expand their provision of mobile broadband services, or for new entrants to have a potentially significant impact on competition," said the Commission to your order.

As a result, the FCC imposed several conditions on the transaction, such as the requirement that Travelers to the new spectrum to stop rivals from the use of the spectrum of the neighbouring 700 MHz broadband services, and limits the ability of the company Qualcomm Wachovia Spectrum in a way which would deprive the opponents the advantages of the of the FCC rules is.

In a statement, Wachovia said it expects the conclusion of the transaction in the coming days.

"This spectrum will help Travelers continue to provide world-class mobile broadband experience to our customers," said Bob Quinn, Senior Vice President of federal regulatory issues at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship, in a statement. "We, the Chairman of the FCC Commissioners and their staff for the completion of the review before the holidays."

In December 2010, , Qualcomm announced the , that sells its lower 700 MHz D block spectrum licences, and (e) on the AT & t for $ 1.925 billion. Qualcomm to use spectrum for its FLO TV mobile digital TV business last year announced the , but that will end in March 2011. AT & t plans to use the spectrum as a download for their 4 G networks through carrier aggregation technology.

"Spectrum is both the wireless industry, the US, we are very glad that the FCC does not reduce the range of the screen, however, continue to believe that any changes in the process, which is allocated should be open and transparent public debate and clear to everyone in order to ensure the health of our industry," said Quinn.

Reno has recently had a prickly relationship with the FCC. The Commission recently found that Wachovia had tried to purchase the T-Mobile would not be in the public interest and would result in massive layoffs. As a result, it recommended the agreement sent to the administrative law judge; the way to the FCC to reject. At the same time, the FCC also issued an evaluation report, which included a (redacted), his Office has received information about trade, prompting Travelers accuse the Commission that the biased and hypocritical.

Whereas the Ministry of Justice was also the action to block the merger of the T-Mobile, in the meantime, Travelers eventually decided to get rid of the agreement, with $ 4 billion charge in the process.
